Reverend Dr. J.G. McCann, Sr. has a passion and fervor for evangelical preaching and focuses his ministry on prayer and the Word of God. Known as “The Teaching Preacher,” Dr. McCann’s philosophy is that every effective church must fulfill four purposes: teaching, preaching, fellowshipping, and serving.

Dr. McCann’s testimony is that God pulled him from the streets of the Bronx, saved him, and elevated him to preaching on platforms across the nation so that he can give a voice to the voiceless. For nearly 40 years, Dr. McCann has been preaching and teaching the Word of God across the nation and abroad in South Africa, Swaziland, Malawi, and Ukraine.

For over 25 years, Dr. McCann has been the prophetic Pastor of St. Luke Baptist Church in Harlem, New York. At St. Luke, Pastor McCann leads effective Christian ministries in three primary areas he refers to as “The Three M’s” – men, marriages, and ministers. He also leads a series of "Wordshops,” which are Bible-based Christian development workshops.

Dr. McCann has led St. Luke to total debt freedom. The church’s new, $5 million worship facility will be a tremendous asset to the kingdom of God.

Dr. McCann has formed many successful community partnerships and initiatives, and he serves as Chaplain for the New York City Transit Authority and the MTA Police. He holds leadership positions in the United Missionary Baptist Association, the Baptist Ministers' Conference of Greater New York & Vicinity, and the Baptist Ministers' Evening Conference of Greater New York & Vicinity.

God has blessed Dr. McCann to write over 20 books on all facets of Christian living, including leadership, financial stewardship, Christian marriage, and evangelism. He has taught on these topics in Trinity Broadcasting Network appearances.

Dr. McCann earned his Doctor of Ministry, Master of Sacred Theology, and Master of Divinity degrees at Drew University, where he currently serves as adjunct professor and recruiting liaison.

Dr. McCann is actively involved in the Hampton Ministers’ Conference of Virginia and is a member of the Beta Psi Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.

Dr. McCann has spent nearly forty years in marital bliss with his beautiful wife, Tselane, who oversees his ministry. They are the proud parents of four children and loving grandparents of five grandchildren.
